The secret to confidence

Unfortunately, our world is filled with so much negative pressure to look a certain way, act a certain way and live up to high standards to even be deemed socially acceptable. Everyone is constantly judging and it can feel impossible to love yourself just the way you are and not give in to conforming. But the truth is, if we look for our identity in this world, we will always be searching because trends, fads and “idols” are constantly changing. What’s considered beautiful, cool or “acceptable” today could be totally different tomorrow.

But fear not. There is a secret to real confidence. There is a way you can unapologetically be yourself, feel comfortable in your skin and radiate beauty. By looking in the only place that will truly validate your worth, your identity in Christ. He’s the only one who can really say who you are and what’s in your heart because He made it. God finds you so precious and irresistible that He sent his son to die in your place and give you everything you could ever need or desire. He finds you so valuable that He’s created a new covenant with Jesus just to be closer to you. This truth isn’t just for believers, it’s for EVERYONE! Because everyone is one of God’s precious children.

29“Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31“So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.- Matthew 10:29-31

Christ is in the center of your being. You are holy, called and righteous. Made in His image, you are the strength, power and perfection of Christ wrapped up in a beautifully unique packaging that is everything you are and everything God intended you to be. He weeps when He looks at you because He loves you so much. He loves how special and different you are.

I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.-John 14:12

If we realize and accept who we are in Christ, we can live completely free, confident and unaffected by the world’s standards of perfection, knowing we carry true perfection in our core. If we can understand the power, authority and destiny we carry as God’s children, we will be unstoppable!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is for you. – Romans 12:2

God desires us to have people and relationships in our lives that are loving, encouraging, accepting and healthy. But earthly relationships will always let us down. People aren’t perfect. If we only find our worth in the words of a loved one or the acceptance of the public, than we will find ourselves easily wounded, torn down and without an idea of who we are at all. Physical beauty fades away. The titles we carry and the things we accomplish or don’t accomplish have no bearing on who we actually are. You can’t put your stock in those things. We worry way too much what others think of us and what they expect us to be. We allow ourselves to become extreme people pleasers for the false and fleeting approval of man instead of accepting the unwavering approval we already have from our Father!

We get so worried about being pretty. Let’s be pretty kind. Pretty funny. Pretty smart. Pretty strong. -Unknown

If we know our worth and identity in Christ and know without a doubt how beautiful we are as a child of God, we cannot be persuaded to believe any less. Who says a beautiful face is more important than a beautiful heart? I’d prefer to be known for the latter myself. BUT I know I have both because of my confidence in the woman God created me to be! It’s taken me confidence just to start this blog! If I had listened to people around me instead of the Holy Spirit, I wouldn’t be who I am today or stepping out doing the things I’m called to do. I will never let peoples opinions prevent me from doing the things I love or being who I truly am ever again!  All you need to radiate true everlasting beauty is confidence, joy and love.
